Your boss is spying on you... Beware of working remotely!

Perhaps the feature of remote work imposed by the Corona pandemic was the most prominent advantage that the disease brought to the world, but something new may disturb the peace of the matter.

A new study reported that American companies are now adopting programs to monitor remote workers, explaining that working from home does not mean that you are free from the watchful eyes of your boss.

Observe the smallest details

And in Australia, a woman said she was fired as a consultant after her employer's monitoring software detected "very low keystroke activity" on her laptop between October and December.

Her manager also said the role required more than 500 keystrokes per hour, and she averaged less than 100.

And in July, Michael Patron, a former X Twitter manager, reported that he fired two employees who used certain technology after they missed deadlines and were too late to respond to messages.

Patron wrote at the time that a report from Time Doctor, a company that analyzes workdays, found that there were extended periods of time when employees did not write, according to Insider.

See the employee screen

In a related context, Time Doctor Content Marketing Director Carlo Borja explained that the company provides real-time dashboards and progress reports that help companies assess their employees' productivity levels, specifically entry and exit times, breaks, and web and application usage.

Time Doctor also offers a screen tracking tool that allows companies to see an employee's screen via recordings or screenshots, and can be turned on and off as needed.

"We help companies gain peace of mind through productivity analytics," he said.

Borja also continued that Time Doctor has seen a boom in business over the past few years with the launch of remote work, and the movement back to the office has not canceled the demand for employee tracking software.

He said that more than 298,000 employees around the world are being tracked using the company's software, explaining that its largest customers are in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

One last tip

It is noteworthy that a March survey of 1,000 American business leaders who work primarily remotely by Resume Builder found that 96% of them use some form of employee monitoring software, sometimes called master software, to monitor worker productivity.

The survey found that only 10% of those companies were using them before the pandemic.

About three-quarters of respondents said they fired employees based on the results of their bots.

In addition, Time Doctor advises that it is in the best interests of its clients to be transparent with their employees so they know they will take responsibility - and can cut back on any of their time-wasting activities.
