YouTube Adds New Editing and Creative Options for Shorts

The updated UI will make it easier to make precise adjustments and edits, while you’ll also be able to rearrange and/or delete clips, add music, timed text, and more.

You’ll also be able to preview your Short within the composer, giving you more capacity to customize each element, and ensure it suits your needs.

YouTube’s also adding an option to automatically sync your video to the beat of your chosen soundtrack:

“Pick a song, and this tool will automatically align your clips with the music’s rhythm, taking the headache out of manual syncing.”

That could be another way to make more engaging Shorts clips, by better integrating them with music. Of course, results will vary, but it might be an interesting, simple way to make more stylistic Shorts videos.

YouTube’s also expanding its Shorts templates, with new photo-based backgrounds from your own photo gallery.

It’s also adding effects within templates, enabling more creative capacity from these pre-made tools.

Also on images, YouTube’s adding image stickers for Shorts, providing another creative consideration for your clips.

As explained by YouTube’s chief product officer Johanna Voolich:

“So say I’m a fashion creator. So I do a fashion haul, I get a cool jacket, I take a picture of it and it’s in my camera roll, then I can make a sticker of that jacket on the background and use the photo from my camera roll to make the sticker.”

And finally, YouTube will also soon enable creators to generate AI stickers via text prompts as another addition for Shorts videos.

As you can see in these examples now, you’ll be able to create whatever stickers you might like as another addition to our clips.

These are some interesting additions, which will extend your creative options within Shorts clips. And they could help you create more engaging, interesting short-form videos, helping you align with the most popular rising trend in the app.
