The International Fund for Animal Welfare1 realized that we should pay tribute to our feline friends in 2002. Every year on August 8, people all over the world celebrate International Cat Day, which aims to educate people about cats and how to protect them.
International Cat Day: What Is It?
The purpose of International Cat Day is to bring together cat lovers worldwide and honor cats as friends. Cats are a very common pet in many countries, with an estimated 600 million being kept as pets globally.
On this day, veterinary professionals, specialists, and charities unite to demonstrate their love of cats and raise awareness of cat-related concerns. The proliferating feral cat populations, which are susceptible to disease or external threats, are one of these problems.
How Are You Going to Celebrate?
The majority of pet owners find it easy to celebrate their pets. We love to share images or videos of our adorable pets because we are proud pet owners. Some folks throw parties or take them somewhere special on their birthdays. That also holds true for International Cat Day.
Here are some things you can do to honor all the cats in the world if you do not already have a few ideas.
• Adopt a pet!
• Have a neighborhood yard sale and donate all the proceeds to your local shelter or spay/neuter program.
• Donate some time to an animal rescue.
• Donate supplies or your pet’s unused items to your local shelter or rescue.
• Organize a neighborhood shelter. All the animal lovers can get together to set up shelters on their property and share the food expenses for the stray cats in your area.
• Buy a cat tree.
• Give your cat lots of love and affection.
• Make a cat cake!
