According to Dr. Pankaj Garg of UEA's Norwich Medical School, an AI model may complete an MRI study in a matter of seconds as opposed to up to 45 minutes when done by hand.
The AI model was trained using data from 814 patients at hospitals in Sheffield and Leeds. 101 patients from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals were used for extra testing.
Compare to other research, this model provides an extensive evaluation of all four heart chambers since it was trained on a variety of data from various hospitals and scanner kinds. The model has the potential to enhance patient outcomes, diagnosis, and treatment decisions, according to Dr. Hosamadin Assadi of UEA.
Testing the AI model on bigger patient populations from various institutions and scanner kinds will be the main focus of future research. The research was conducted in partnership with many NHS trusts and institutions, using funding from the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Career Development Fellowship.
